With few street-ball carts around, there's little that Jam-mit can be compared with. These actions, however, are slow and jerky, which throws off your momentum. The controls consist of a standard push, shove, and maim, along with slammin' and jammin' basketball moves. Each player's clear taunts and insults would intimidate Sir Charles himself.
Trash talk is Jammit's classic feature, and this version has it down. The graphics have been slightly improved over the 16-bit version, but not as much as you'd expect. You choose from seven street-ball contests, including Sweat, Poison, and Frenzy, on your way to facing the Judge, king of the courts. You play a one-on-one game on five graffiti-covered courts and make side bets to increase your cash flow. Jammit on the 3DO has enough options and attitude to make it a decent competitor. Slade, Chill, and Roxy are back and talkin' more trash than ever. Jammit's come to the 3DO, but the results won't overwhelm you. Until now, if you wanted real street hoops at home, you had to play either Shut Up and Jam! or Jammit on the 16-bit systems.
The backgrounds are lush, with graffiti on the walls, trash on the court, and even dirt smudges on the backboard. The large, digitized players dress in the casual clothes you see the outdoor courts, and they move with silky-smooth grace. Well-rendered, realistic graphics capture the urban atmosphere perfectly. Jammit is def with its contemporary, presentation of the games. Be forewarned, however - the computer opponents move just as efficiently as you do, especially in the higher levels. Jammit also supports the new six-button controller for even faster action. On-screen action responds very well to your button-pressing, which is crucial in this fast-paced game. No matter which game you select, the controls are easy to pick up and execute. This separates you from the defender and opens up more lanes so you can charge the basket. It's easy to Clear the Ball off the sides of the basket, but sometimes your best move is to go all the way outside the paint and come back in.You can slam opponents as much as you want from the front.
